Veggie Donation Campaign
Our student volunteering team invited stall vendors in the market for donating vegetables in a campaign organized by The Hong Kong Federations of Youth Groups. The result is encouraging. The vendors in Leung King Estate agreed on donating vegetables every Friday while vendors in Po Tin market did it once a month.
In the scheme, volunteers collect the donated vegetables on Fridays and resend the veggies to low-income families in the community. Student volunteers learn from the experience and cherish the food and their fortune. The activity also encourages students to lend a helping hand to the needy and they realize that ‘to give is better than to take’.
